Dr. Cusmano is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at Stanford University School of Medicine. She co-directs the Clinical Biochemical Genetics Laboratory and serves as the Associate Program Director for the Clinical Biochemical Genetics Training Program. Additionally, she is the Course Director for the Molecular, Cellular, and Genetic Medicine course for first-year medical students.Her research focuses on developing laboratory technical standards and guidelines, as well as expanding the molecular, biochemical, and clinical understanding of rare disorders, particularly those identified through newborn screening.Dr. Cusmano earned her B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Miami and her M.D. from the University of South Florida (USF). Dr. Cusmano completed her residency in Pediatrics at USF and further specialized in Medical Genetics and Clinical Biochemical Genetics at Stanford University, as well as Clinical Molecular Genetics at the National Human Genome Research Institute. She is board-certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics and Genomics, Clinical Biochemical Genetics, and Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics.
