Dr. Andrew Edmondson is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He is the founding Director of the Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG) clinic at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he diagnoses and manages CDG patients with complex, multisystemic disease manifestations. Dr. Edmondson's research focuses on the critical role of glycosylation in neurodevelopment, understanding mechanisms of CDG pathophysiology, and developing novel therapeutics. He is a Co-Investigator with the Frontiers in CDG Consortium, a member of the US National Institutes of Health funded Rare Disease Clinical Research Network. Dr. Edmondson also serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the CDG patient advocacy organization, CDG CARE. Dr. Edmondson received his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. He completed a combined clinical residency in Pediatrics and Medical Genetics at CHOP in 2017 and subsequently completed a Clinical Biochemical Genetics fellowship at CHOP in 2018. He is board certified in Clinical Genetics and Genomics, Clinical Biochemical Genetics, and Pediatrics.
