Bio
Ashlee Stiles is an Associate Professor in the Division for Medical Genetics at Duke University. She serves as co-director of the Duke Biochemical Genetics Laboratory and director of the Duke External Reference Laboratory. She is actively involved in the improvement and development of assays using mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques for rare inborn errors of metabolism with research interest focused on biomarkers for lysosomal diseases, such as Gaucher and Fabry diseases. Furthermore, she works closely with Clinical Laboratory Leadership to identify cost savings approaches for high cost and/or high volume send-out tests and works closely with ordering providers to develop guidelines and algorithms for testing strategies to guide appropriate testing utilization. She earned her BS in biology from Angelo State University, her PhD from UT Southwestern Medical Center in the department of Molecular Genetics and went on to receive her clinical biochemical and molecular genetics training from the UCLA intercampus training program.
