ABSTRACT FAQS
- Does SIMD accept non-author or industry author abstracts?
While we do accept abstracts from industry representatives, we do require a person be present during the poster session time to discuss the content of the poster if accepted for presentation. Furthermore, the poster should share new information or education that would be of interest to the audience and is not primarily a mechanism for advertising a drug, treatment, or device. The presenter needs to be an author on the abstract and familiar with the poster content to be able to answer questions from conference attendees.
- Does SIMD accept encore abstracts?
SIMD understands that research is continually evolving. Thus, we welcome abstracts that contain some information previously presented to enable the readers to fully understand the presented work as long as there are new data, interpretations, or applications important for our metabolic community. It is expected that an abstract submitted to SIMD is not identical to previously published abstracts.
- Are abstracts with promissory data allowed by SIMD?
SIMD does not allow for promissory data abstracts to be submitted, but submitters can describe the study and include sufficient information for the previewers to be able to understand what would be presented. For instance a submitter could present the study design in the abstract and then add new to the actual poster if accepted for presentation at the meeting. Please note due to publication requirements, SIMD cannot accept an updated abstract after the submission deadline has passed.
- What is the word count limit for abstracts?
The title field has a word limit of 100. The sections for Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions have a combined 500 word count.
