SATELLITE SYMPOSIA

Guidelines for Industry Supported Satellite Symposia at the SIMD 2026 Annual Meeting

The SIMD recognizes that exhibitors, supporters, and other organizations may wish to schedule educational satellite symposia or other events during the SIMD annual meeting.  The SIMD will allow such events if they do not conflict with the SIMD Educational Conference. Any ancillary educational satellite symposium must be approved by SIMD and will not be listed as part of the official SIMD program; however SIMD will post information on the meeting website about all approved satellite symposia.

For the 2026 SIMD meeting, parties interested in submitting a potential satellite symposium abstract application should follow the following guidelines:

  1. Any company that is interested in a satellite symposium session, must first commit to a support level (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, or diamond) which are described in the SIMD 2026 Prospectus by 12/31/25. Please reach out to our Executive Director, Kristi Wees (kwees@simd.org) if you have any questions about the prospectus. A commitment form (last page of the prospectus) must be completed and submitted by 12/31/25 for a company to be eligible to submit an abstract application for a satellite symposium session.

  2. An abstract application highlighting the novelty/educational value of the topic proposed must be submitted to the SIMD abstract portal as a potential Industry Satellite Symposium abstract by 11/30/25.

  3. The abstract application submission should include potential speakers, aiming for diverse/inclusive presenters. We strongly recommend including SIMD academic faculty/clinical investigators on the speaker list.

  4. Additional CME credits for the proposed symposium are encouraged and submitters should indicate in the abstract application if they will be offered. However, this is the responsibility of the company to organize and coordinate and will not be tied or connected to SIMD’s educational program application.

After the November 30th abstract application deadline and the December 31st support level commitment deadline, the Program committee will review eligible abstract applications and determine which industry supporters will be offered a satellite symposium session. There are a very limited number of satellite symposium sessions available, and priority will be given to diamond supporters whose support package includes a satellite symposium session.
